We all need help with our writing. Whether you have a short story, whole manuscript, a chapter, a blurb, or ad copy, I’m here to help you realize your writing’s greatest potential with thoughtful and relevant editing and feedback. This is why I am offering freelance editing.
Prepare up to 2000 words for a sample edit. Then use the form at the bottom of the page to submit a request for a quote.
Within 24-48 hours you will receive a sample edit to determine if my editing style is a good fit for your project, as well as a quote!
If you are interested in a budget friendly option for custom cover design, I also offer cover design services.
A developmental edit takes your manuscript and applies an in-depth edit to its entirety. This involves looking at all elements of your writing including plot holes, style and structure, grammar, characterization, genre, and more. Despite having some overlapping similarities, it is a broader editing process than Line Editing or Copyediting as it looks at the whole picture.
A developmental edit is typically done before or during the writing process. It can also be applied to outlines to make sure you are writing from a solid, if flexible, foundation, no matter if you are a plotter, pantser, or somewhere in between. For larger projects a plan will be made to target focus areas during writing.
Good for flexible and stringent outlines, and manuscripts of any length.
Line editing focuses on craft and style. A line edit combs over each sentence to look out for inconsistencies in tone, characterization, word choice, cliche phrases, and ultimately aim to polish your prose. Wasted words will be trimmed from your prose to ensure the writing is clean and concise.
Good for manuscripts of any length.
Coming after a developmental edit, a copyedit will look specifically at word usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If you want to pack a more emotional punch, a copyedit will substitute weak words and sentences with stronger options.
Good for manuscripts of any length.
Second only to your cover, the blurb is the place a reader goes to see if they want to take the leap and buy your book. A concise, clear synopsis ensures your book’s blurb catches eyes and keeps them there. It’s also one of the hardest parts of writing. How are we supposed to fit our entire book into a few paragraphs and a single tag line?
Offered at a flat rate fee, a blurb edit comes with the addition of ad copy since the two typically share parts of one another. I will help you edit your blurb into a clear and intriguing piece of writing, along with editing/writing five additional pieces of ad copy for you to use in an ad service. Ads typically cap at 150 characters or less, are aimed to appeal to audiences of specific genres, and encourage sales. While the two are very different in terms of what they are meant to do, they are inextricably tied together to create a successful sales funnel. I will help you achieve cohesive copy.
Need a combination of any or all of the services above? Maybe you need less than a service described? Or a recurring monthly service? Curious about another option you think I can help you with regarding your writing? Have a budget in mind, and want to discuss a custom package to fit your needs?
I included an option to select a custom package for those who don’t know exactly what they want or need. I also want to provide an option for those who are on a budget, but still don’t want to sacrifice their writing’s potential because of it.
Customized freelance editing package to fit your individual needs.
