Feel Good Ghosts Cover Reveal
It’s been about a month since Feel Good Kings came out, and the…
Feel Good Kings is done. Coming in at just over 117,000 words before edits, I finished the MS up last night after a lot of late hours trying to hit first 100k, then 110k.
Officially, this is the first time in thirteen years I’ve hit 100k for a single story. I’m 28 this year, so it makes me feel that writing the sequel before my birthday in December is doable.
I’m not used to talking about myself or what I wanted to explore going into a project, but I’m trying to change that. Plus, I don’t really know what I want (specifically) until I reach the end and have a lot of ideas to tweak on the first edit. Feel Good Kings ended up being about mortality and being who you are. Danny as a protagonist has a lot of internalized self hatred to work through, and West is the one to help him start. The sequel will follow West as the protagonist…and you’ll see why once you read FGK.
The preorder for Feel Good Kings will be up later this week! That’s what I’m aiming for anyway, who knows what the retailers will do. The cover reveal for the sequel will happen a little later.
Below you’ll see a breakdown of the last push to finish this one up. I don’t write every day, but when I do, I find my word counts come easier and at higher numbers the longer my daily streak. It took me 13 months to get this book done. January-March were obviously very slow months. I think that was because I was trying to figure out school stuff. In contrast, in the last 10 days I wrote 32k. I have no rhyme or reason. Nothing makes sense. But the book is done.
