The first in a series. Follow Sean and Orion the Android as they hunt down a killer fighting for android liberation.
TWO OFFICERS—ONE HUMAN, THE OTHER AN ANDROID—STRUGGLE TO OVERCOME THEIR DIFFERENCES WHEN A SERIES OF MURDERS LEADS TO THEM UNCOVERING A PLOT FOR POTENTIAL CATASTROPHE.
San Francisco, 2161
Police officer Sean Grier hasn’t had an easy day. His girlfriend broke up with him. His brother, Mitch, has fled rehab for the third time. The daily protests for android rights aren’t going anywhere fast, and to top it off the chief has been handing out layoffs left and right for minor infractions—those directly in conflict with the emerging android equality laws. Grier isn’t looking to lose his job, but he knows where he stands. Humans are humans and a machine, no matter how smart, is still just a machine.
Advanced artificial intelligence was a dangerous mistake. One Grier isn’t about to just roll over and let happen.
When he responds to a 10-96, Grier makes the mistake of thinking he’ll be able to handle it alone. He expects to make an easy arrest after a short chase into a rundown building, but what he finds rocks him to his core. Blood splattered walls. Bodies hanging from meat hooks. Limbs arranged in a strange pattern on the floor…
And there in the center, the head of the man he’d given chase to. A gruesome display delivers a chilling message.
Android liberation or genocide. Choose quickly.
Grier is assigned to the unit tasked with finding the culprit. This is his chance to get the eye of the chief, and maybe even a promotion. The only problem is the new partner he’s been given. A Third Iteration Military Intelligence Unit, a top of the line combat android meant to hunt and destroy. Obliteration hidden behind a handsome face, programmed to go against its own kind. Grier isn’t so convinced.
Sean Grier must make a choice—learn to work with the android, or risk so much more than just his job.
